"Wow, I am so knocked out by your site and mandolin demonstration
videos. Someday I will be able to buy one of your beautiful mandolins.
Congratulations on your accomplishment!"

"I want to tell you how very much I enjoy my new mandolin. The sound
is wonderful. However, after a few months of playing my new mandolin I
realize it is the playability that is so very noteworthy. The action of
the strings on the fretboard is like nothing I ever experienced before
on a string instrument. It is a wonderful instrument to play and makes
me appear much better than the amateur I am.
Thank you so very much. I am now saving for my second New-Mad mandolin."
Sincerely, DS
"It's a VERY good mandolin, Peter. I really like the tone. My
girlfriend liked the looks of it BETTER than my Nugget F-5 and my Ellis
F-5. How about that?"

"I've just had my 2nd Mix A5 in, the first went to Sweden after a week,
so I brought it home for the weekend. I was also trepidatious before the
first arrived. It has a richness and depth of tone that is awesome. I've
played it alongside, Heiden, Kimble (Will was involved in the design)
Brentrup and others. I never use the word best but the MIX stands
alongside all of those."

"Peter, Thank you for bringing us the New Mad, it is beautiful. The
sound is clear and true through out the chromatic range. I have a old
Gibson A-model with a sunken top, I know."
Thank you, RR
" Your mandos sound beautiful. I don't want anything, I just had to
comment on the spectacular sound. Very impressive. Thanks for your
effort."

"I've fallen in love with the song "Sophia in Paris" that's used in the
video samples for the Mix A5 and A4 mandolins. Is there a TAB version
available? I'd also like to know if a recording of the song has been
made. I'm new to the mandolin and discovered your wonderful web-site
while registering for the Mandolin Cafe's A5 mandolin giveaway. Love the
mandolin, love the song, would love to hear from you!"

"What a nice surprise to find that wonderful F4 here! I played it all
night and I am very impressed. The D and G resonate enough to rattle the
windows. The fit and finish and balance are all I have heard about--
very fine indeed. I love the tailpiece! I am doing my best to share the
information on the wonderful Mix mandolins. I feel fortunate to own one.
Thanks so much for your great steadfast work. Enjoy the thaw."

"Peter, I am now the proud owner of #14. It is a wonderful instrument. It is much different than I was expecting for some reason though. First, I was expecting good workmanship and design, but the beauty of it was way more than I was expecting. I love the rounded edges. The maroon tint is also way more attractive than the pictures led me to expect. I also couldn't see the black fading on the edges from the pictures. It truly is beautiful. Honestly, I like the look of it better than any wood mandolin I've seen."
"I wasn't sure if I was going to like the bigger neck at first, but after playing it for about 6 hours straight, then trying my old mandolin - I prefer the neck on the Mix. The fretboard is also perfect. I like the styling and the shorter length much better than most mandolins' with an extended fretboard scooped out. The neck and fretboard is exactly what I was looking for. I also like the fact that you went with a different headstock design. It adds character."
" I don't know what to say about the tone. It has some characteristics that no F mandolin I've ever heard has, like tremendous sustain and massive clarity and separation of notes. I can already tell that I will be adapting my playing style to take advantage of these traits. Thanks for making such a great and unique instrument Peter."
"I just got a Mix A5 last week. My purpose was to have a mando that I could plug into an amp and save the trouble of hauling and setting up a PA to use a mic. Everything seems to be a compromise to some degree, and I expected a good mandolin that would be weather resistant, easy to amplify, but not sound as good as a wood mandolin. Well, I was wrong. The MIX A5 sounds incredible as an acoustic, and direct into a guitar amp (not ideal) is also as good as anything I have heard short of a mic. I usually play a great Stiver A5 that is loud, but very edgy (my friend who sold it to me calls it a punk mandolin tone). The MIX A5 is every bit as loud as my Stiver, but has a sweet and complex tone in comparison."
" I ordered a standard A5 with a satin finish and a very subtle wine
colored burst. It is a very handsome instrument. My office staff was
very interested in checking it out when it came in earlier this week.
My staff and my jam buddies were all impressed with the sound and the
projection. I have said before that I am not very good at describing
sound but I think this mandolin has an absolutely great tone. It
reminds me some of my Ellis F-5. It's pretty loud and projects well in
a jam with a dozen instruments. It also sounds good played alone in my
den. You can be very expressive with this instrument. Good chop. I
was frankly shocked at how good it sounds and plays. I've spent a lot
of time and money looking for mandolins that sound this good. It also
has a Schertler pickup or microphone setup
installed. I tried that out briefly on one of my amps and the acoustic
sound came through pretty well. The review above says that you might
need an EQ adjustment to get a pure acoustic sound. I'll have to save
that issue for later. The review above notes how nerve wracking it can
be to carry about a 20K instrument. With this instrument you can feel
secure and also have a very consistent and good sounding instrument to play. I think
this one sounds just as good as the 20K instruments. I'm taking this
one to Kamp next year. At around 4K these are not cheap but fairly
reasonable by current mandolin standards and they would be a good choice
for someone looking for a reasonably priced mandolin with durability and
a great tone. Also, for senior pickers such as myself, you don't have to
wait years and years for the mandolin to open up. It's open right out
of the box--or the mold, I suppose. There's also a considerable cool
factor involved. Kudos to Peter. Or rather, I guess, cheers to Peter!"
